Corn?
An Energy Source Renewable in Only 120 Days
Take a moment to consider this: it only takes four months to grow a good crop of corn but it takes forty years to grow enough trees large enough for efficient heating and it takes forty million years (or more) to convert animal tissue into oil. America has an excess of two billion bushels of corn. The fuel of the future is being produced in abundance in America's cornfields.

The amazing corn stove burns clean, dry, shelled corn. Corn contains ethanol and oil, and burns more cheaply and cleanly than other fuels. Like a wood pellet burning stove, an auger feeds the corn into the burn chamber. Fans supply air for the fire, and circulate the heated air.
Corn and wood pellet stoves can be direct-vented thru the wall of your home & only requires a clothes dryer-style vent*. It is safer than a wood stove, and it produces no carbon monoxide. Its ash is only a small clinker (a hard mass of fused ash), that is easily disposed of. 50 lbs of corn produces only 2-3 oz. of ash! Other than the viewing door, the stove does not get hot to the touch so burns are not an issue. The location of the stove can be located much closer to walls & other combustibles. Our corn stoves are UL listed. Corn is cleaner than wood to handle, and its particulate emissions are only 0.32 grams per hour. (The EPA allows up to 4.5 grams.)
Both of these types of stoves need electricity for their auger feeding system and fans, so you need a generator or battery backup if your power is unreliable. This stove doesn't?t radiate heat, so a blower must be used to distribute the heat. When loading, corn is dustier than pellets, but it produces less ash. Average cost for a new stove: $1700 to $2400.
* PLEASE NOTE: Do not use a dryer vent per se. See Venting Information at the bottom of page 4. We carry a full line of approved, stainless steel stove pipe, vents & accessories. -see page 5 -Fuel & Accessories. Any installation should be done in compliance with local building regulations.
